Michael Cohen exhibited a copy of a $35,000 check from President Donald Trump, signed while he was in office, during his bombshell public testimony to Congress on Wednesday.
Cohen said he received the check from Trump while he was in office to reimburse Cohen for a hush-money he facilitated to Stormy Daniels, the porn star who says she had an affair with Trump years ago.
Trump has denied having an affair and initially denied knowing anything about the payments.
The check that Cohen submitted to Congress appears to have been dated on August 1, 2017.
Cohen also accused Trump of engaging in criminal conduct while in office. The allegation relates to the Daniels hush-money payment, but specific details are otherwise scant.
He also described Trump as "a racist," "a conman," and "a cheat" in his testimony, according to leaked texts of his prepared remarks.
Cohen's testimony before the House Oversight Committee started at 10 a.m. ET.
